Are You Building?, Hee Wan Bok

I am a third generation Christian. My grandfather was an elder in a denomination as well as my father. However, I was captured by the shining beauty of the Lord in a brother who is now in Brazil. Through him I met the believers in the local church in Thousands Oaks and I began to realize what the real church life is. Through their loving care I grew in Christ little by little and loved the Lord more than before.

At that time I was really influenced by Witness Lee's book, The Genuine Ground of Oneness. This book says, “We have to gather together according to the locality to be one for the building up of the Body of Christ.” How can we be one? It goes on to say, “Oneness differs from unity. Unity is the state in which many people are united together, whereas oneness is the one entity of the Spirit within the believers, which makes us all one. This oneness is a Person, Christ Himself, who is the Spirit dwelling within us. Eph. 4:3 Footnote 2.” It was like the fog in me was disappearing and the clear sky was appearing.

By the Lord's mercy I now am in the Full-time Training in Anaheim (FTTA). Whatever I have learned and experienced in the Training, will be my treasure and will control and govern my whole life. Through the brothers' perfecting I have a vision of the building of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). This is the heart of God; therefore, I treasure it the most.

The building is not only by Christ, but also with Christ (Ephesians 4:12). My happiest thought is knowing that the church is built by us (Ephesians 4:11-12, 16). This is a new gospel to me. Day by day the gifted brothers perfect me unto the work of the New Testament ministry so that I can be built up corporately with other believers.

Am I building with Christ and with other genuine believers on the ground of oneness? For the building work I must grow in the divine life by denying, rejecting my natural life (Matthew 16:24, Romans 8:13), and by contacting the Spirit continually. I must always open my heart to the Lord, and give Him the freedom to move, act, and work in me (Ephesians 3:17). Then, as I grow up into Christ in all things then, from Christ, I have something with which to build. The church that is built up by our growing with the growth of God will remain forever and will consummate in the New Jerusalem. (Ephesians 4:15, Revelation 21:2)
